Worldwide Trend in Soya Products
The sale and use of products containing soya is growing rapidly in the
world especially in Western Europe, North and South America. Soya, being a very cost effective source of protein, means that it could be further used to promote nutrition in developing countries. In addition, soya beverages are a popular alternative for people who need or want to reduce the lactose content in their diet.

Soya has been used for centuries in the Far East to promote health and provide consumers with nutritious food and drinks. More recently, in the western world, soya products have been used by vegetarians and as ingredient in other foods. With a growing number of people trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle, the consumption of soya products has increased, especially since the FDA in the U.S. approved a health claim stating that: “diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include 25 grammes of soya protein a day may reduce the risk of heart disease”.
